Budgeting Tips
It is just as important to budget for healthcare costs to avoid creating additional anxiety which can be created by financial stressors. Taking the following steps may assist you with the cost:
• If using your insurance, contact your carrier and inquire about the cost for both in- network providers, as well as, out-of-network benefits (in the case we don’t accept your specific insurance). We can supply documentation you can use to request reimbursement of a percentage of your fees from your carrier. Co-payments are not always equivalent to your primary physician visits co-pay. There is one thing in favor of the consumer, recent health care laws require insurance companies to incorporate within their plans, comprehensive mental health services, which in most cases requires the plans to cover sessions at 100%. • Inquire about the number of sessions, and/or whether you must first meet a deductible based on your chosen benefit plan. • Inquire whether a prior authorization is needed before out-patient sessions can commence. • Inquire whether your concerns are eligible for EAP or use of flexible spending funds. • Be clear about your expected co-pay, which may be different from your medical co-payments. Payment PolicyPlease be advised that all co-payments, or self-pay is due at the time of service. There are times in which we may not be able to gain access to your plan timely, however, you remain responsible for your co-share before the session commences. Therefore, it is vital that you make contact with your insurance to identify your co-share beforehand. Some policies have deductibles, meaning you have to pay the self-pay amount until you reach your deductible cap via medical or psychological services. If you'd like to change your form of payment to insurance, EAP or another means, we require 24 hour notice to allow for verification of your newly suggested form of payment. If there has been a change to your plan due to termination of employment, new employment, or changes made during open enrollment, it remains your responsibility to inform our office of those changes at least 24 hours ahead of your appointment. You will otherwise be responsible for any payment for services rendered in which your plan does not cover because of the matters shared.
